What Is an Industrial HVAC System, and How Does It Work?

Blog

Industrial buildings are large for the standard HVAC system to work efficiently, and that's why an industrial unit is needed. Such units are found on top of commercial buildings and work continuously without stopping. This article looks at what these units are and how they work.

What are Industrial HVAC Systems?

If you have seen large mechanical extensions on the top or side of commercial buildings, that's probably an industrial HVAC unit. They provide ventilation, cooling, and heating in a commercial building. They use a single-phase power inlet and have sensors that help detect when there's a problem with the unit.

How do Industrial HVAC Systems Work?

Industrial HVAC systems work similarly to residential ones, only that they consume more energy, and their output is more than those we use at home. They're also designed to work on big buildings, and you should expect their efficiency to be excellent. Here is how the system works. The HVAC system works by sucking in the warm air floating through the house and passing it over the cooling coils that help to bring down the temperatures. Once the air is cooled down, it's dehumidified and pumped into the room. The refrigerant also doubles up as a heat collector from the air, which passes to a compressor that helps squeeze and compress the air into high pressure and temperature. Once heated and pressurized, the air is passed over the condenser, converted to liquid, and heat is removed. The cycle keeps repeating continuously unless to keep the desired temperatures in the industrial warehouses and production facilities.

Signs of a Damaged Commercial HVAC

Buildings meant for commercial or industrial use HVAC systems most often and can't go a day without one. Here are a few signs that the HVAC system isn't working. Failure to start is usually the first sign of something wrong with the system. The problem can persist even after you've restarted the unit. Regular rebooting, if the unit keeps rebooting automatically, it indicates an anomaly with the electric component within the unit. Poor performances lead to rooms getting too hot or too cold even when the unit is on. That could be an indication that the unit needs maintenance services. It's always best to contact a commercial HVAC system expert if you suspect the unit is malfunctioning.

Conclusion

Commercial HVAC systems are perfect for industrial buildings due to their sheer size, outstanding performance, and prolonged lifespan. They work similarly to residential ones but at a larger scale. You can tell there if something is wrong with an HVAC unit when they stop working, keeps rebooting, or when failing to perform to the desired standards. Contact an HVAC professional if you need help with industrial HVAC systems.

Zap This, Zap That

When you hear the word "electrician," what comes to mind? Some people imagine a contractor holding a sparking wire in their hands. But in fact, electricians do their best to avoid sparking and zapping anything. They spent a lot of time learning how to avoid such issues as they can be dangerous, leading to fires and injuries. Electricians do work hard to run wires through homes, install outlets, and mount lights. The just aim to do so without zapping anyone! If you'd like to learn more about electricians and their work, then you're invited to read the articles on this blog.
